Asian elephants, are one of the three living species of elephants and are found in 13 countries across Asia, including India, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Indonesia. They are the largest land animals in Asia and can weigh up to 5, 500 kilograms and stand up to 3 meters tall. The Asian elephant is a social animal that typically lives in groups led by a dominant female, known as the matriarch. These groups are made up of related females and their young with males living solitary lives after reaching puberty. They are herbivorous animals and feed on a variety of vegetation, including grasses, leaves, fruits and bark.
